Central Bank Boosts Türkiye’s Reserves by $40 Billion Since June

The central bank reserves of Türkiye have seen a significant increase, climbing by nearly $40 billion since the end of June. This surge has brought the reserves to their highest level in approximately five months. As of the week ending August 21, the reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) are estimated to have grown by $5.3 billion, reaching an approximate total of $188.8 billion, up from $183.5 billion the previous week.

Earlier this year, the reserves had dipped to around $149.2 billion by June 26. However, since then, they have embarked on a strong recovery trajectory. By the end of July, the reserves had increased to $164.4 billion and continued their upward trend throughout August.

The latest estimates suggest that the reserves are now about $39.6 billion above their lowest point in June, marking their highest since March 13. This recovery highlights a significant financial rebound for the nation.

Official data confirming the reserves for the week ending August 21 is anticipated to be released on Thursday, providing a clearer picture of the country’s financial health.
