Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently engaged in separate dialogues with Finland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Riikka Purra, alongside Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto. These discussions aimed at bolstering economic cooperation and enhancing trade and investment links between India and Finland.

The meetings highlighted the potential for expanded collaboration across several critical sectors such as digitalisation, innovation, research and development, startups, and business partnerships. The two nations also examined prospects for deeper cooperation in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, 6G, quantum technologies, semiconductors, space, and sustainability.

A significant aspect of the talks was the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The discussions revolved around how this agreement could uplift bilateral trade, attract investments, and open new avenues for businesses in both countries.
