Denmark Defeats Wales 2-0, Leaving Wales Bottom of Nations League Group

Denmark secured a 2-0 victory over Wales in the UEFA Nations League Group A4 match in Copenhagen, leaving Wales at the bottom of the group standings after two matches without a point or a goal. The result follows Wales’ earlier 1-0 defeat to Portugal, adding to their challenging start in the tournament.

The match saw Denmark dominating the first half with multiple scoring opportunities, including hitting the post. Although Wales improved towards the end of the half, they were unable to score. Denmark broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when a free-kick by Mikkel Damsgaard resulted in an own goal by Wales defender Ben Davies. The hosts extended their lead in the 66th minute with a deflected goal from Gustav Isaksen after Wales failed to clear the ball effectively.

Denmark continued to press and create further chances to increase their lead. Wales’ struggles were compounded when a late goal was disallowed due to a foul by Ethan Ampadu on an opponent. The defeat leaves Wales without a win or a goal in their first two matches of the Nations League campaign.

Wales’ manager Craig Bellamy acknowledged Denmark’s superiority on the pitch and expressed disappointment with the result. He emphasized the need for his team to improve as they prepare to face Norway next, followed by a rematch against Denmark in Cardiff.
