Türkiye Urged to Develop Standalone AI Strategy, Report Reveals

A recent analysis has called for Türkiye to establish its own comprehensive technopolitical doctrine in the age of artificial intelligence, emphasizing that AI has become a pivotal component in defining national security, economic strength, and international influence. This report, issued by Türkiye’s National Intelligence Academy, recommends an integrated approach that blends technorealism, technopragmatism, and technohumanism to craft a well-rounded national AI strategy.

Highlighting Türkiye’s existing capabilities, the report points to the nation’s advancements in defense technology, AI-enhanced decision-making, and effective partnerships between public and private sectors. However, it also identifies several challenges that need addressing, including fragmented data governance, inconsistent standards, and a call for more transparency in AI operations.

To bolster its strategic position in the long run, the report suggests several measures: expanding AI infrastructure, refining data governance, investing in interdisciplinary education, and reducing technological reliance on foreign entities. Additionally, the report underscores the importance of enhancing international technology diplomacy and applying innovations from the defense sector to civilian industries.

The report ultimately concludes that Türkiye should strive not only to adapt to global AI governance but to be an active contributor in shaping it. By implementing these strategies, the nation could position itself as a significant player in the global AI landscape, influencing the rules and standards that govern this rapidly evolving field.
