The United States and Iran have once again engaged in an exchange of airstrikes, sparking fears that this latest escalation could lead to a more widespread conflict in the Middle East. The U.S. military targeted sites associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claiming the strikes were a direct response to Iran’s attempts to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and threats to American personnel.
In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks against U.S. interests spread across the region, hitting locations in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq. Jordanian forces reported intercepting ten ballistic missiles fired from Iran, with three additional missiles landing harmlessly in remote areas. Further attacks included Iran’s claimed strikes on a U.S. base near Erbil in Iraq, while missile and drone activity was also detected in Kuwait, and air-raid sirens were heard in Bahrain.
