ESET, EVC Group Collaborate on Europe’s Cyber-Secure Battery Storage Development

ESET and EVC Group have formed a strategic alliance to enhance Europe’s cyber and energy resilience by developing advanced battery energy storage systems. This collaboration will focus on creating CyberSec BESS, a new generation of cyber-secure battery storage solutions tailored for the European market. As battery storage systems increasingly support power grids and critical energy infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity has become a key priority alongside performance and reliability.

The partnership was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that outlines the framework for developing, certifying, and commercializing CyberSec BESS. Officially introduced on June 25, 2026, at Intersolar Europe in Munich—a prominent event for renewable energy and technology—the project aims to comply with current and future European Union cybersecurity regulations, bolstering the long-term resilience of critical energy systems.

CyberSec BESS is set to merge European expertise in cybersecurity, system integration, and certification with global battery manufacturing capabilities. Martin Talian, Chief Corporate Solutions Officer at ESET, emphasized that battery storage has become crucial to modern energy infrastructure and should incorporate cybersecurity from the onset rather than as an afterthought. He noted that this initiative allows ESET to leverage its experience in protecting critical infrastructure, contributing to an energy sector ready for both current and emerging cyber threats.

Oliver Garaj, Managing Director of EVC Group, highlighted that resilient energy infrastructure requires a holistic systems approach rather than just assembling individual technologies. The partnership aims to deliver battery storage systems that prioritize security, transparency, operational reliability, and high performance by combining engineering expertise, advanced energy technologies, and robust cybersecurity standards. These qualities are expected to grow in importance as Europe’s energy sector continues to modernize.

According to Frost Radar™: Endpoint Security, 2025 by Frost & Sullivan, ESET is the largest global cybersecurity provider headquartered in Europe, offering AI-powered cybersecurity solutions across various environments, including endpoint, cloud, and mobile. With its collaboration with EVC Group, ESET seeks to enhance Europe’s energy resilience and support the secure deployment of next-generation battery storage technologies.
