China and Türkiye Deepen Partnership on 55th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Türkiye and China are commemorating 55 years of diplomatic relations by strengthening ties across various sectors, including trade, technology, energy, and regional cooperation. The deep-rooted relationship, which stems from ancient interactions through the Silk Road, has evolved into a significant partnership, highlighted by Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal. He emphasized the historical connections that laid the groundwork for today’s diplomatic and economic interactions between the two nations.

Since establishing formal diplomatic relations in 1971, the collaboration between Türkiye and China has expanded considerably. China now stands as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade volumes exceeding $50 billion annually. This burgeoning economic relationship is also reflected in the increased connectivity, as more passenger and cargo flights are linking major cities of both countries. Türkiye has also bolstered its diplomatic footprint in China by opening multiple consulates, which underscores the growing economic and diplomatic engagement.

The two countries are actively pursuing enhanced cooperation in vital sectors such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Ambassador Ünal highlighted that both Ankara and Beijing hold similar perspectives on several international and regional matters, advocating for peace, stability, development, and conflict prevention. This alignment of views further cements their strategic collaboration.

Looking ahead, Türkiye and China are committed to advancing their partnership under the strategic guidance of their leaders. The focus is on fostering long-term economic growth and strengthening regional cooperation, aiming to build on the solid foundation established over decades of bilateral engagement. As both nations continue to align their efforts, their relationship is poised for greater depth and significance on the global stage.
