Türkiye has reaffirmed its openness to facilitate another round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, a move underscored by Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov. Speaking in Kazan, Ushakov highlighted that Turkish officials have expressed their readiness to host discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This development follows recent conversations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Since the onset of the war, Türkiye has taken on a proactive role in mediation, maintaining open diplomatic channels with both Moscow and Kyiv. The earlier talks held in Istanbul marked some of the most significant direct engagements between the two nations, although they ultimately failed to produce a lasting peace agreement.
Ankara’s strategy has been to maintain a balanced approach, focusing on dialogue and diplomacy to help de-escalate tensions. The Turkish government has consistently emphasized the importance of negotiations and has actively worked to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
Turkish authorities continue to engage with leaders from both Russia and Ukraine, reinforcing their commitment to international peace initiatives. By offering to host new negotiations, Türkiye aims to contribute to finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict, supporting ongoing global efforts to establish stability in the region.
