Türkiye has underscored its dedication to enhancing maritime security, defense capabilities, and technological self-reliance, as highlighted by senior officials during the conclusion of Teknofest Blue Homeland. At the event, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized the increasing significance of protecting Türkiye’s maritime interests, referred to as the “Blue Homeland.” This initiative gains urgency amid escalating geopolitical competition and security challenges, alongside the race for critical technologies, energy resources, and control over vital trade routes.
The event, held at Gölcük Naval Shipyard, featured an impressive display of maritime prowess with 37 vessels and four aircraft. Among the showcased assets were the TCG Anadolu, TCG Istanbul frigate, TCG Derya, and the Murat Reis submarine, complemented by domestically developed unmanned maritime systems. Such displays underscore Türkiye’s commitment to bolstering its maritime capabilities.
Yılmaz pointed out that Türkiye is making strides in integrating both manned and unmanned platforms, utilizing advances in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and advanced sensors. The country is also ensuring secure communications to enhance its defense posture. Notably, the localization rate of Türkiye’s defense industry has surpassed 80%, reflecting the nation’s ambition to solidify its status among the world’s top defense exporters.
Teknofest Blue Homeland also served as a platform for competitions focused on unmanned underwater systems, maritime vehicles, and underwater technologies. These events highlight Türkiye’s efforts to inspire and nurture young engineers and innovators, paving the way for future advancements in maritime technology.
