A pioneering high school in Türkiye focused on renewable energy has made it to the finals of the World’s Best School Prizes, a prestigious international awards program that honors schools for their innovative approaches and contributions to society and the environment. Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, located in Ankara, has been named as one of the 10 global finalists in the Environmental Action category, highlighting its role as a leader in environmental education.
Established in 2017, the high school has integrated renewable energy systems into its curriculum, providing students with hands-on experience in working with actual energy systems and analyzing energy data. The school’s programs are designed to teach students about reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and fostering zero-waste practices. These initiatives aim to empower students with practical skills and knowledge that can contribute to a more sustainable future.
One of the school’s standout initiatives is the Energy Detectives Project, which educates middle school students about carbon footprints, energy conservation, and waste reduction. As part of the project, students actively monitor energy and water usage at their schools, working towards minimizing consumption. Beyond its educational programs, the school has made strides in disaster relief by developing an energy bank.
