Following the NATO Summit held on July 7–8, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Ankara has elevated its standing on the global stage. The summit, which was marked as a historic success, saw the participation of prominent world leaders, including US President Donald Trump. Erdoğan emphasized that the event underscored Türkiye’s expanding influence in international diplomacy.
The Turkish leader highlighted that NATO members reached a consensus on the need to eliminate obstacles to cooperation in the defense industry. Furthermore, NATO plans to establish a Counter-Unmanned Systems Centre of Excellence in Konya, a city in Türkiye, which signifies the country’s growing importance in security matters.
Erdoğan noted that the summit’s Defence Industry Forum was attended by nearly 1,000 participants, which he sees as an opportunity to boost tourism and enhance Türkiye’s international image. The forum’s success is expected to further bolster the country’s reputation and contribute positively to its economy.
In addition to discussing defense and diplomacy, Erdoğan expressed his intention to strengthen ties with the United States, aiming to increase bilateral trade to $100 billion. He reiterated Türkiye’s dedication to promoting regional peace and stability, which remains a key component of his foreign policy agenda.
In a gesture of solidarity, President Erdoğan also extended his condolences to Qatar following the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, underscoring the importance of maintaining strong relations with neighboring nations.
